The Town of VernerFifteen kilometers west of North Bay, north of Lavigne and just east of Sturgeon Falls is Verner, Ontario, a farming community with a population of 1000. Settled by Reverend Richard Paradis in 1894, many of the locals are descendents of French Michigan peoples, who moved to the area to farm and because West Nipissing is heavily Francophone. Located close to Lake Nipissing, home of 40 varieties of fish, Verner is an angler’s paradise that also attracts hikers and lovers of the outdoors. Golf enthusiasts also come for the beautiful Verner Golf Course. Useful InformationThere is a church, gasoline, an ATM machine, a few small restaurants, and a Yamaha dealer. There is a CO-OP in Verner that sells farm supplies, here you can buy things hard to get elsewhere, e.g. Maple Syrup Taps. |
